Inaugural 2025 Collabs: Cities for People & the Planet

$200.00

Join a community of global scholars, practitioners and doers that will meet online three times in 2025 to discuss topics that are germane to building equitable and resilient cities, and determine how we can move the needle faster together.

  • Three 90-minute sessions (or “Collabs”) currently planned for 2025. Currently planning for May, August and October.

  • Topics that we will cover include inclusive growth, planning for equity, sustainable development, human-centered development and more.

  • Participants will receive a few readings and videos to review in advance of each Collab. The pre-reads and viewing won’t be intensive - for those who don’t have time to read entire books, we’ll highlight chapters of interest.

  • Each Collab will include a succinct presentation summarizing the key themes and ideas from the readings and materials distributed, an engaging and authentic discussion among the participants to share ideas and knowledge and opportunities for peer-learning. The final 15 minutes will be devoted to structured community-building and networking among participants.

  • All interested participants will be asked to fill out a short form about their personal and professional background in order to curate the most productive, engaging conversations possible.

  • The $200 price tag covers three sessions. The goal is for the Collabs to be financially accessible and open to practitioners around the world. Discounted rates are available upon request if the cost is prohibitive to participating.

PROPOSED COLLAB TOPICS:

Reckoning with Growth. Most economic development practitioners champion growth, yet there is also a blossoming anti-growth movement. Is growth the right goal? How do we ensure growth is inclusive and equitable?

Planning for Equity: Inequality is a pervasive challenge for those engaged in growing thriving, resilient cities. How did we get to where we are today and how do we change the trajectory?

Shaping a Regenerative Urban Development: Too often urban development is focused on short-term gain, rather than taking into account the long-term potential harm of some decisions, from an environmental, human and community perspective.
